I have decided to begin writing this blog to remember the times I spent studying abroad and to give some direction to those starting a journey of their own (if anyone chooses to read it). That being said, I am traveling with my friend Will and before heading to Ireland (our study abroad location), we decided to go to Munich. So far we have been here for about 5 days and overall I like the city. Near where all the hostels and the main train station are, there is not much to do in terms of night life. The hostel bars are pretty much it. However, closer to the center of town there are more beerhouses like Hofbrauhaus and The Augustiner. Both of these places are very big and social. There are many people from all over who are willing to talk if you speak their language. Going to those places is a lot of fun. The glasses that they put the beer in are absolutely huge, I can't quite remember if they are one liter or one and a half liters but they get the job done quickly. I also had a pretzel the size of a small country while I was there. I could not finish the whole thing and had to enlist the help of my companions. One thing I really like about being at the hostel is that your roommates become your instant friends if they speak the same language as you. They are the people you go and hang out with at night. The only problem with them so far has been that they are in and out, you have a constant flow of new people. I will go into depth more on specific strange stories and drunken revelries later.
